Sue at Grove road, been checking out Ivis' new raised beds, a present from Henry.

A good year, we did so many things and we were working well together, it was generaly good all round. It is a good not knowing what is going to happen.

Wintery weather at the bus stop.

January

Crap weather, snow, slush. sleet and rain. Just cold and slippery under foot at present. Good news, Richard might be able to test out his winter tyres?

No data was returned.

Train waiting at Haworth on a damp Saturday, waiting to leave for the down hill run into Keighley.

February

February was about going to Sue's fathers sisters funeral, (which was good, if you can say that about funerals?). Going was OK, but coming home was a nightmare, we thought we would never leave Somerset, the average speed up the motorway was about 2 mph and minor accidents littered the way. We managed to get to Ivis and Henry's for a late tea, hours late!

The rest of the month was more normal with Sue working hard as usual.

No data was returned.

March

March carries on where February left off, cold, damp and the odd flurry of snow and sleet. Mid March Richard comes up so we go travelling around the county. At the end of the month I am in Skipton!

Monday 2: Snows in to March
It keeps being cold and wintery in to March with the odd gust of snow coming down.
Tuesday 17: Mid March
Richard comes to stay, so the first afternoon we go out just past Bolton Abbey and have a coffee and a look round, while Sue is working and Joh is still at work.
Wednesday 18: Travelle with Rich part 2
The next day we goto Salterhebble, (South Halifax) and have a look at the Calder and Hebble Navigation, where at one time a canal to Halifax came it and went into Halifax. We then went to Sowerby Bridge where the Rochdale canal joined the Calder and hebble navigation head on. The many large warehouses still stand, and make an impressive sight. Decieding that it was time to find some food, we made our way to Hebdon Bridge, and stopped at the Organic House Cafe for a gluten free lunch.
Thursday 19: Travel with Rich part 2
The next day we had planned to go to Weatherby, but finding we could not find a parking space we end up at Knaresborough.
Monday 23: Skipton
At the end of the month I end up in Skipton.

April

The start of April is not good weather wise but eventualy picks up so that I can spend time by the canal and just generaly messing around with boats.

Friday 10: Greemberfield Locks
This is one of our more recent visits, we try to break the week by going out, even if it is just for a cup of coffee together. This months Sue has an idea to take me some where different, and takes me to Greeenberfield locks. There is a small cafe in the car park there, so we went and had a coffee, and then went for a walk about. (see the pictures.)

At one time there used to be staircase locks here, this is where you have the locks joined together (see 5 rise locks) I think me and Sue managed to work out where they used to be?

Then we went back to the cafe and had a nother drink and sandwiches before taking a slow drive home.
Saturday 11: The garden centre
The following day Sue again tempted me out of the house with the plan of having coffee, by going down to the local garden centre, (I am sure she thinks I don't get out enough?)
Monday 13: Gargrave
Seeing Dawn! The weather seems slightly better after a period of just not very nice!!!
Saturday 18: Charlie's Birthday
The highlight of April was Charlie's first birthday party. This event was realy for his relatives, to get together nad meet each other, and to celebrate Rachel and Josh being together. (19th April 2015) Just look at the pictures - Rachel had organised it so well, thank you Rachel. (and the back drop helped so much)
Thursday 23: On the canal
A day out to the boat one Monday in April 2015. I had for gotten that the main cafe in Gargrave is closed on Mondays, so I ended up going to the White House instead, which is a little bite posher!. Part of the reason was that buses from Gargrave are every 2 hours and I had just missed one. (In May they in creased it to a hurley service.) While I waited for the connecting service in Skipton I managed to grab a few more pictures.
Sunday 26: To Towneley Hall
At the end of the month Sue took us out to Towneley Hall, to meet one of her artist friends and look at their exhibition.

There be dragons! Well at least in Grassington.

May

If you are not interested in boats and canals, hard luck. A lot of boats one way or another.

Saturday 2: May Bank Holiday
is the time for Skipton Waterways festival, this year it was held on the fist weekend in May and included the bank holiday. The rest of the family did its own thing, while I went around the festival and looked at all the boats, stalls and drank coffee and had a little bite to eat.
Monday 4: Bank holiday Monday
me and Sue went to Grassington for a little journey out and stopped for a little while in Braithwait, an area of Keighley to find the Old Meeting House. We then carried on to Grassington.
Thursday 7: In to Leeds.
This is just a minor checkup to see if my ICD is working Ok, I am in there for about 10 Minutes. On arrival in Leeds station, I had made my way up to a little cafe I know, have a little snack and then continued my way up to the hospital. Since I am in Leeds after the appointment, I go for a wonder around, look at music etc. (would not think of buying any??? and then home.
Friday 8: The next day
(and the 16th) I travelled by bus to Gargrave to have a look at the boat, and check things over, and have a short walk along the canal, and see who is moving.
Wednesday 27: Why? Why!
did I go to Todmoredon on the Wednesday (27th) I have no idea now! probably because it was not raining!, but I did, to find the old Quaker Burial Ground there. (It was a difficult climb up the hill for me?)
Saturday 30: Getting health!
I must be going through a 'get healthy' period, as I went to Shipley on Saturday 30th to walk along the canal. Managed to walk back to the Five Rise locks and have a cup of coffee there.

June

The sun is out - and the boats are moving.

Monday 1: Seeing Dawn
A trip out, to check on NB Dawn, went by bus as they have now impoved the bus service out to Gargrave. Sue gives me a lift in to Keighley, (so I can help move chairs at the Meeting House, to get the place ready for to teach yoga there.) I am still in time to get to the bus station to get the first bus (on a bus pass) out to Skipton. Where I have half an hour at least to wait for the bus to Settle, which stops at Gargrave. I often get of at the Anchor Inn, a family style pub, but I'm sure the drivers think I am stopping off there to get my first drink of the day!!
Saturday 6: To Dewsbury
Sue is teaching yoga today in the house, well the yoga basement, and they use the kitchen at lunch time. So we do not have to be quit, me and John have decieded to go out for the day, and do a travel pass excursion. (see where we can go on out busses, John has to keep to the West Yorkshire.) So we are going to Bradford and then we are getting the bus to Wakefield but getting of in Dewsbury. We had a sandwich in a nice little cafe in the town centre, and then walked down to have a look at the Minstir, then carried on to the marina where we had very nice coffee and spng cake.
Thursday 18: Canal Time!
Been out to Gargrave for the day, but most of the pictures have ben taken while waiting for the Kieghley bus in Skipton.
Friday 26: To Nottingham
We are spending the weekend away with Ivis and Henry, we look around there garden and look at ivis's new raised beds, check that the chickens OK.

I have a look at the Nottingham canal one morning. In the evening Ivis and Henry take us to the Playhouse, for the evening meal and then to the ballet that is on there.

We also go out for a walk around Attenborough Nature Reserve.
On the way home we stopped of to See Charlie (our grand son.) Where we were treated to lunch at a nice wine bar.
June's foto's

This is north beach - You do not need to take Sue any where, you just leave her to watch the waves come in. Very cheap to take out?

July

There are also the odd photo of Charlie in the month but you will need to select the 'July's foto's' button to see them!.

Thursday 9: Holiday
We both go on holiday (a short one?) We go to Scarborough as we like going to the theatre there, the 'The Stephen Joseph Theatre' to see a Alan Ayckbourn play and have a meal at the theatre. We have done this before and enjoyed it.

We also had time to enjoy Scarborough it self and see some of the surrounding villages.
Saturday 18: Brock Holes
We met Charlie and his parents at Brock Holes a nature reserve near Preston for a day out, we were slightly late, because we were originally very early and stopped on the way and ended up being late! ooops!

But it ended up being a good day.
Friday 24: Hewenden Viaduct
Sue had been talking about this big rail viaduct she keeps seeing on her travels, so we decieded to investigate, and found an interesting walking/cycling route.

From: Wikipedia
Hewenden Viaduct, situated near Cullingworth, West Yorkshire, England, stands at 123 feet (37 m) tall and spans 576 yards (527 m) with 17 arches each of 16.5 yards (15 m). The foundations of the viaduct had to be sunk more than 60 feet (18 m) into the earth because of the unstable ground below.

The viaduct originally formed part of the Keighley and Thornton Branch of the Great Northern Railway and, together with the mile-long Lees Moor Tunnel, opened to passenger trains in 1883.

It served as a railway viaduct along the Queensbury Lines and it now forms part of the Great Northern Railway Trail for cyclists and walkers. It is a Grade II listed building.
Saturday 25: Out with Richard
so we go into North Yorkshire and look round Ripley (as Sue had introduced it to me earlier in the month and then on to Pateley Bridge.

August

Sue's birthday? Writing this some five years later I think she was at the ashram? as I have no records, I think she was teaching but also did a short course as well. As for me, I was going to model railway show in Skipton?

Saturday 29: To Cumbria
to Sedbergh in fact, to spend some time with Sue's uncle and aunty. We had morning tea with them, then went for a walk with her aunti while her uncle had a nap. Then a light lunch with them, before travelling home.
Monday 31: Charlie and parents
Come and stay for a few rather wet days. Charlie plays next door and then we investigate our local heritage line, namely the KWVR (Keighley and Worth Valley Railway).

September

Not a very active month, (for me!) doing things around the house rather than going out, things like Sue's accounts etc.

Saturday 5: To Todmorden
Keep fit dy! John takes me tp Todmorden via Keighley and Hebden Bridge and makes walk around there park. Though we did have a nice coffee in the covered market first.
Saturday 19: Five Rise Cafe

October

Both of us go up to Calversyke Hill, to look at what used to be a Quaker burial ground, but it seems to was brought of the Quakers by the Brigg family, who had been Quakers but had been thrown out for marrying outside the faith. Also Denny and Mike came up and we went to Ripley castle and enjoyed the grounds and a nice tea.

Saturday 3: Round trip
Go to Halifax for lunch than me and john goto Hebden Bridge for afternoon tea and a little walk down the canal, (John says it is good for me?)
Sunday 11: Sunday
After meeting we go to look at Calversyke Hill as it had been in the local paper. See links else where for more details of the place.
Saturday 17: Mike and Denny
Denny and Mike come up for a few days and we take them up to Ripley to see the castle as we had only just found it recently. We went around the grounds and then went to the cafe/restruant for coffee and a nibble.
