The Anderton Boat Lift

This, in many quarters is 1 of the 7 wonders of the waterways. It breaks several records, perticularly for having the longest stoppage ever, these are tempory restrictions to boat movements, they last hours, or days, some times in to weeks. This one was years, about 19 in all. (I am told it would have taken an act of parliment to actually close it. As Parliment had said there was a right of way.)

It is one of the largest structures on the English waterways, not bettered until the Scots built the Falkirk wheel, which in it self is a modern wonder of engineering.
NB Dawn was brought from a yard near here and was actually kept at a marina near here for a few months, before me and John brought her home on her maden voyage.
